The “Social Brain” Chair at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona was constituted as a centre for thought and discussion in the field of social neuroscience. The aim of this centre is to bring to light new ways of understanding the social dimension of the human being.

Values, Empathy and Fairness across Social Barriers

Qué provoca que terroristes sacrifiquin la seva vida per la seves creences? Perquè membres d'una raça creuen que son superiors a altre? Com els missatges subliminals afectan als resultats de les campanyes polítiques? Aplicant les eines de la neurociència i de la ciència social, investigadors has aprés molt de les funcios del cervell en el comportament humà i en les interaccions. Aquest volum de l’ Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences sorgeix de la primera Conferència del Cervell Social, organitzada per la New York Academy of Sciences, la Fundació Catalana para la Recerca i la Innovació, la Càtedra UAB "el cervell social", i la European Science Foundation.

The Unitat de Recerca en Neurociència Cognitiva de la UAB, associated with the “social brain” Chair, is pursuing a neuroimaging study about the structural and functional brain changes induced by pregnancy. The study also aims to examine the association between such changes with changes in the level of hormones which have been linked to empathy and emotional attachment.
