A STROLL ALONG THE BORDER OF SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR. Routes around Barcelona explained from a social neuroscientific perspective.

Cities contain significant traces of how man interacts with his own kind. Each one of these itineraries proposes a theme which introduces the key concepts of social neuroscience through observation and analysis of citizens from various environments’ behavior, such as in a marketplace, and its historic and scientific contextualization.

Previous itinerary:  Commercial Barcelona — A walk around the streets of the subconscious.

Which processes of the brain appear while we’re shopping? Are we aware of all of them? Over the past years, commercial architecture has developed a series of strategies to create spaces and environments in which to better exploit our consumer instincts. Surprisingly, the expertise of such manoeuvres often resides in cerebral processes which are activated without us even realising it. Along the route, the streets of Barcelona uncover corners of the subconscious that we involuntarily visit as we go shopping.
