May 3rd, at 17h, the chair “El Cervell Social” presented the magisterial conference headed by Robert Trivers, and followed by two interventions by Antoni Gomila and Arcadi Navarro.
Robert Trivers is lecturer in Anthropology at Rutgers University, and winner of the 2007 Crafoord award handed out by the Swedish Royal Academy to complement the disciplines overlooked by the Nobel Prize. Trivers is a pioneer in the study of the evolution of the social conduct in animals, and has established the theoretic and empiric basis that are now known as sociobiology. Antoni Gomila is professor of philosophy of the mind in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Balearic Islands, and Arcadi Navarro is a researcher in evolutionary biology at the Pompeu Fabra University.
